Quickie

New tyres for the old girl. Cheers to torpedo7 for amazing pricing. We’re talking under $20 NZD delivered to my front door

Frame is in the local shop gettin crank and chain removed. Then it’s time to get quotes on coating, ouch?

Rollin on 20s

When I moved back to my home town to study, I decided I needed a sick bike to get around as I expected my Wagon to be getting work done. Sadly, that was never the case, but I did pick up a rough little Hoffman Flash. Straight ’96 style, think bright green paint, stylised text, and bulgin’ tyres.

After a thrashing at the local BMX track for lols, I realised this thing wasn’t gonna cut it as it was, so out came the wallet. I replaced the tyres and tubes, grips and brake pads and greased the varied bearings. It ran okay for a 13 year old bike, but the wheels didn’t run true, the bearings were still rough as guts and the headset was shot. So back in the shed it went, until late ’08 when I stripped the frame and painted it neon pink. I did a fair job of it, but paint never really suits bikes, so it was stuffed in no time, sadly.

Getting my strip on. Black bike is daily roller getting serviced

Anyway, figured it would make an interesting project to follow on here. Got home today and started tearing her down again. All frame is now free, bars are free, seat pole is free, forks are free and wheels are sans tyres and tubes.

Pre-strip down. I really did quite a poor job last time. Over-spray central

Legit toolbox, 1950s spec

Strip down ‘plete.

Plan now is to get the crank assembly and chain removed as I haven’t the tools to perform these acts. Frame will then be blasted and powdercoated in original-as-possible green. Wheels will likewise be coated if possible, albeit in satin black, with chrome spokes. Will track down some sick skinny tyres, fresh headset and brake assembly also, and hit the streets. Can’t wait to sticker her up
